Awards Night

Congratulations to Ms Brennan who organised another wonderful Awards Night. It is an evening where students shine bright and are recognised for their work and commitment to the various subjects, well-being and sports. A special thanks to the two MCs on the night Michael Corr (5 East) and Jamie Monk (1 East) who both displayed such natural talent for the first time in the role. This may be to do with the fact that they both have an acting background which helped the evening to flow so smoothly.

Our guest speaker on the night was Mr. Jamie Lennon, a past pupil who left here in 2016. After leaving school he went on to do a degree in History and Geography and is now an Irish professional footballer playing for the League of Ireland Premier Division club St Patrick’s Athletic, the club where he started his professional career. Mr Kelly, his school coach asked him to recall his favourite memories of the place. Naturally sport was at the top of his list realising at the time that he that he had a talent for football. He told the students that they were very lucky to be in a school like St. Aidan’s. Jamie is only 28 years old and it is amazing all he has achieved to date. He is such a good role model and inspiration for younger students as to what can be achieved with desire, commitment, and talent.

Warmest congratulations to all the nominees and winners on this very special night. We appreciate and give a special thanks to all the sponsors on the night, the Student Council, and all the staff without whose help it would not be possible.

The 1st years were taken on a school trip to Emerald Park on a day when there was glorious sunshine as a reward for all their hard work during the year. The following is written by Darragh from 1st year after enjoying the trip so much.
