Principal's Welcome

Welcome to the St. Aidan’s CBS website. We hope you enjoy reading about our school and the range of opportunities we offer our students.

St. Aidan’s was established in 1964 and since then has been driven by a passion to promote academic excellence and support an inclusive approach to education for all of our pupils. Our mission statement has a very real presence within the ethos of our ERST, formerly Christian Brothers school. This statement guides us in promoting the personal, spiritual, physical, creative, and academic development of our students.

St. Aidan’s CBS offers a wide range of subjects, facilitated by dedicated teachers in well-resourced classrooms. We encourage every student to actively participate in their classes and engage fully with their homework and study. We expect dedication and diligence from all of our pupils, as we work together to help them reach their full potential. St. Aidan’s has a proud tradition of academic achievement, which we hope to inspire in every year group as they progress through the school.

The educational experiences offered to our students go well beyond the confines of the classroom. We provide a rich range of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, facilitated by our dedicated and talented staff. In addition to a variety of team and individual sports, St. Aidan’s is also home to many fun, creative, and scholastic clubs which give our boys the opportunity to explore new hobbies and interests. They can hone their skills in chess or debating, give each other a helping hand in Homework Club, or experiment in Science Club. Our school has a strong history of achievements and we know our future students will also carry that forward.

It is important to us to motivate our students to engage with issues and events at a local, national and international level. This is achieved by programmes such as our active Student Council and our biannual Tanzania Immersion project. Giving our pupils a voice, and an opportunity to make a difference will hopefully inspire them to become active citizens and help shape our community for the better,

As a school, we welcome parental and community involvement and we derive great personal and professional fulfilment from the role we play in the lives of the young people whose education is entrusted to us. We understand that our students may come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and we encourage our students to respect the differences and unique abilities of others within the school community.

Through our pastoral care and guidance programmes, we respond comprehensively to the changing demands of students and their families as the boys in our care move from adolescence into adulthood. We are committed to supporting each of our pupils in any way that we can.

We are constantly striving to improve and innovate in every aspect of teaching and learning. The school has recently been approved for a large building project which will enhance the learning environment in the school into the future.

I hope that our website gives you a flavour of what life is like in St. Aidan’s and a sense of the active participation that our students display daily. Many teachers, students, and parents helped to develop and regularly update our website so I trust that you will find the information varied and interesting. I invite you to contact us any time for more detailed information, as we would love to hear from you.
